If you do not know, in a nutshell you can 'describe the Commissioner so':
a middle-aged man police commissioner, capable, thoughtful and discreet who lives alone in the sea despite being engaged to the Genoese Livia.
Commissioner and 'a great guy, always struggling with crime and dishonesty: he could never take care of his large and beautiful house by the sea, or even cooking. Ve lo vedete il Commissario Montalbano dietro i fornelli? No. Mi si annienterebbe il personaggio.
E cosi' il commissario a pranzo mangia in trattoria e la sera trova tutto pronto nel frigo o nel forno: a cucinare e' la domestica Adelina.
Ora. Cosa sarebbe il commissario Montalbano senza Adelina? Sarebbe un commissario, magari anche bravo, ma non il commissario Montalbano: per preparare la colazione e rifare il letto dovrebbe rinunciare alla nuotata mattutina, per cucinare perderebbe l'occasione di notare qualcosa di strano, per lavare casa e indumenti si lascerebbe scappare qualche assassino.
Vi direte: ma che cazzo ha bevuto Massimo? Che gli viene in mente?
E' solo che ieri sera mi sentivo uno rag: I came from a series of nights with little sleep and had a few lines of fever and would have given anything to not be able to wash the dishes!
