It was the first animated feature produced by Walt Disney released in U.S. theaters by RKO Radio Pictures December 21, 1937, that with great difficulty brought in theaters around the world a wonderful product, quality and manufacture, based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.

Of this reduction was much criticism about the figure of the witch, because of its characterization strongly negative compared to the imaginary child. The choice of Disney, however, was consistent with the underlying message that the author wanted to send to his audience, who supposedly composed pragmatically as adults: the good is always preferable to evil, and therefore it must be described as abominable and terrible.
